The sun was shinning and the air was crisp when we headed to the Vancouver Aquarium located in Stanley Park.
My dad took in the views and relaxed by the fountain outside the entrance to the aquarium.
The aquarium is known for its Beluga whales which look like ghosts floating in the water, but I just can't get enough of the playful otters (check out the the webcam). They pick up balls from the bottom, wrestle and even kick back. They're just so darn cute. There are three of them, Nyac who was rescued from the 1989 Exxon Veldez oil spill, Milo who was born in 1999 at the aquarium in Lisbon, Portugal and Tanu who was rescued as a baby in 2004 off the coast of Alaska. The photo above is of Nyac, she has the lightest coloring.
After the dolphin show we headed over to the totem poles. Each is amazingly hand carved and all but one is painted. Each has a unique story which is displayed in front of the pole describing who carved it, when it was created and what is represented on the pole.
We ended the day by playing several cards games kings corners and hearts. My mom actually shot the moon unknowingly and nearly won the game.
