Our trip to see the bald eagles...
We spotted two eagles, one juvenile and one adult when we drove into the town of Squamish, about 1 hour north of Vancouver. There is a viewing area that informational signs about the eagles and docents are available most weekends to answer questions.
There is an eagle in the tree. Can you see him? An eagle's head turns white when they are 4-5 years old. This means they are mature and ready to find a mate. The peak eagle season is from mid-December through mid-February. The eagles counts vary but there is usually over 2000 eagles spotted. Check out the most current counts.
Two eagles splash around in the river. The one on the right flew over our head before landing then flew up near the eagle sitting in the tree (pictured above).
The weather was chilly, in the low 30s, but with hat, gloves and my new jacket, I was prepared. After watching the eagles we headed down Government Road to the dyke to see if there were any eagles down stream.
